An impressive catalogue of contemporary buildings and bridges have sprung up in London over the last few years. The London Eye, City Hall, the Millennium Bridge, Hungerford Bridge, Swiss Re, the British Museum, and developments in London’s docklands all offer Londoners, visitors, and commuters opportunities to see and experience the Capital from new perspectives. New buildings change the city landscape and horizon opening up views previously unseen. The footbridges link previously disconnected areas and enable new journeys through the city.
The images in City Views portray some of the dynamics of these changes. They highlight some of the most outstanding architectural changes that the city has seen in recent years. They capture the impression that the new buildings and structures make on what was the old urban scene. New backdrops and foregrounds to familiar buildings and vistas are highlighted. Fresh images of the city are captured in shadows and reflections. Human interaction is explored with people moving through the altered landscape, enjoying new views, restaurants, spaces, and places.
